I have just read the following in the on-line Express and am so mad I could spit! £60 million pounds when we (and lots of other groups) can't have the drugs we need. This is bloody scandalous and I make no apology for swearing:
"LABOUR has launched a nanny state guide to teach grandparents how to care for their grandchildren.
In an insult to Britain's pensioners, Children's Secretary Ed Balls hailed a new Government-funded website BeGrand.net which offers "tips and advice on getting involved in grandchildrens' lives."
But the site - which is part of an initiative costing taxpayers a staggering £60 million - instead offers a series of bizarre and unnecessary tips on childcare for worldly grandparents, most of whom have already spent decades caring for children."

Well, did you see that local Council on the news that's spent £300,000 on a guide to teach the over fifties " How to enjoy sex " I don't know about anyone else but I think that if they haven't learnt to enjoy it by 50 they ought to stick to bingo! A friend is someone who knows all about you but loves you anyway!

Which council was that Stewart, Mary's getting ready to move! As for spending money teaching grandparents to look after grandchildren wouldn't it be better to give the money to the parents so that one of them could stay at home and look after the children themselves? Doreen xx

OH don't get me onto Ed Balls...............what a nightmare!
We have had a war with him in the recent battle for home schoolers. It is truly abhorrent that they feel they must squander our money on subjects like this.
You should have read the proposals for home education, but we fought against it and it looks like we've won so far! Thank God.
Love, Amanda

I cannot believe this government. One minute they are telling us that the state cannot afford to look after the elderly because there are too many of us, then they come up with another money-wasting scheme like this. Unfortunately it isn't the only one. I would love to know how much is wasted on these sort of crazy ideas - money which could be spent in basic social care.

This is typical of the government - wasting money on rubbish ideas. Talk about teach your grandmother to suck eggs ---
I try not to read things like that, it only makes me mad, and I can't do b----r all about it.
